Re: Are the newer ones better???
It's a tough call on "better," but I'd say the new ones are just as great as the old ones. Also, there are definitely better options. For my hands and ears the traditional series guitars were a big leap, and the Hill Country guitars (the OM's at least) are a huge leap. The first Hill Country I ever ...

OM1A JL Baked Adi 1 3/4 nut
I know this is a long shot, and I will probably have to order a new one some day, but I'm hoping someone has an OM1A JL with a baked top and 1 3/4 nut width.

Re: Pre-War Guitars Co - looking for opinions
I've had 2 Pre-War (Model D and 000), both excellent guitars, neither as good as the Hill Country's I replaced them with.

Re: Which truly wins the studio mic?
Everyone should listen to Year of the Dog by Grant Gordy and Ross Martin in reference to this question. The entire album is two acoustic guitars, one a vintage Martin and one a modern Collings. They both sound great.

Re: Are They Worth the Premium?
There's no doubt that Collings acoustics are not cheap. But for the quality, I think they are an excellent value. Unless you're talking about a custom ordered Collings, most of them are priced under $10k. To be sure, $10k is a lot to spend on a guitar, but there are a lot of guitars for sale above ...

Re: What picks do you like?
I've tried everything, including some really expensive picks. I've even made my own picks. But the best I've found for my hands is the D'Andrea Pro Plec 351. I had overlooked them in my search for the perfect pick, but I got in a conversation with Grant Gordy about what he used on Year of the Dog ...

Re: Strings
I'm new to the forum. So far, the best strings for my hands are the Santa Cruz. There is a purity to the tone that I think matches the guitars well. I didn't like Santa Cruz on Martins and a couple Pre-War guitars I had before I sold them, but for my current guitar-senal of Collings, Santa Cruz hit ...
