I have never played a Collings guitar that didn’t have tone. Try some brighter sounding strings maybe. I like the Curt Mangen phosphor bronze or the Woodtone strings. I have a CJ with German too and mahogany and these strings do wonders for me
First - thank you all - I know I am a little late in responding, but late better than never... Sorry. I absolutely appreciate all of your experiences and suggestions.

George - as quoted above - I tried the strings you mentioned - the Mangen Phospher Bronze are a dramatic improvement. The guitar sounds much fuller and more articulate just after the string change - it never did before. I am very excited and very much appreciate your suggestion. I will grab a bunch of these strings and use them on my OM2E as well. Many thanks. I have not yet tried the Woodtone strings, I will and let you know how they compare.

John Fink - I sent an email to Dana and will hopefully hook up with him fairly soon. Thank you!

Sometimes the internet is a wonderful place!

Thanks All.

Joe
