I've been dealing a lot with TME the past couple of years and have seen a few of Matt's guitars pop up, then not stay on the site long. Andy and Adam have sung high praises for him and his guitars. He's a great player too.
I took the plunge and bought a used Arcara D1 recently. I really dig it. It's got the punch of a Collings with a little more woody warmth to it. Just like Andy described.
He's and up and coming builder I'm sure we'll hear more about in the coming years.....

I’ve admired the Arcara guitars from a distance and through TMEs videos. I’d sure like to play one of his mahogany dreads.

Mark, Congratulations on your Arcara guitars. I had an Arcara mahogany dread for a number of years. Matt is both a very talented musician and builder. I brought my Arcara to Texas and both Bill C & Steve McCreary had their hands on it. Both commented on how clean the build was. Steve McCreary is the man who handed Matt a Collings CW prize guitar when he placed 1st at Winfield in 2006. Your description matches mine. Similar style of tone, power and build quality as Collings but somewhat more warmth.

TME has a used one. Any idea what a new Arcara is selling for now?

The neck was too old school for me AKA baseball bat. Looked and sounded great but the hand fatigue was a deal breaker so I sold it.

Sounds like you scored a great find — the Arcara D1s I’ve heard and read about seem to have that sweet spot between power and warmth, so it’s cool to hear yours delivers exactly what Andy described. Matt’s definitely developing a reputation for nailing that balance, and if his guitars are moving quickly on TME, that says a lot about demand and word‑of‑mouth. Always great when a new builder manages to capture some of the punch you’d expect from a Collings but with their own tonal fingerprint. I agree — he’s one to keep an eye (and ear) on in the coming years.

Udarnik, Matt Arcara has been building and selling guitars & banjos close to 15 yrs. He is well known and has a great reputation both as a builder and musician.
