Has anyone here tried the Planet Waves PW-CP-18 D'Addario Capo?
It looks to be well made & DEFINITELY affordable! "Almost" Elliot like...

Just curious?

Re: What CAPO?!?
I don't like that Planet Waves capo because it requires you to flex the yoke to unlatch it. That is billed as a virtue - fewer moving parts - but it requires a fair amount of force and it is prone to banging into the sides of the guitar neck while doing it.
They way I look at this in terms of cost is that an Elliott is $100-150 (used and new prices in round numbers). If I'm willing and able to play a $3,000 guitar, I wouldn't let a price of $3,150 stop me. And that money is not lost. These capos sell quickly used at $100+, so I'm only parking my money there. It's not gone. I certainly understand anyone having a different preference in capos for one reason or another, but once we're contemplating Collings level guitars, a hundred dollar capo is not a huge additional investment...and you don't even need one per guitar most of the time.

Re: What CAPO?!?
Okay. My interest is now piqued. But not enough to buy a "NEW" Elliot capo. So I'm going to post here & a few other sites "Looking for a good used Elliot capo"
Next question; I looked on the Elliot site & am now thoroughly confused as to what model would be best for my Collings 000's? Would anyone here know about that?
Thanks.

Re: What CAPO?!?
Hi, elkabong. When ordering a new Elite capo for my D2H Traditional in Nov/17 directly from Elliott, the neck radius and 1 3/4” neck width were important factors. If you’d like to be certain, it may be of benefit to contact Melisa Elliott at Elliott Capos - 979-421-9393. She was great to work with and she could guide you with respect to your specific needs (and perhaps a new Elliott!).

Hi Ray;
I did just that earlier today. Melisa already responded as well. Thanks for the tip though!

Re: What CAPO?!?
I own a few Elliott Capos and think they are excellent. However, my favorite is the G7th Heritage https://www.g7th.com/heritage-guitar-st ... neck-width This Capo is magnificently crafted and has an ingenious cam under the pressure bar that self-adjusts to any fretboard radius. They offer standard and wide versions. I bought my last one from Guitar Gallery for $139 but normally I buy direct for $149.

Hi Paul;
Yes. A local friend of mine mentioned the same thing. He has 2 Elliotts, but prefers his G7th Heritage 'over' the Elliotts. Worth looking into I guess?
Anyone else here wanna chime in on the "Elliott VS G7th Heritage" capos?
Cheers!

Re: What CAPO?!?
It's been a while since I owned a Heritage, but at the time I did I much preferred the Elliott. I've owned Elliots since about forever, huge fan. What intrigued me about the Heritage was the idea that it would accommodate a variety of radii, or at least that's what I seem to remember. In any event, I felt the Elliott did a better job of letting the tone of the guitar ring through, sort of like just moving the nut to the higher fret. The Heritage *slightly* muffled the tone, a failing I find with all other capos to a greater or lesser degree. ymmv
